Project 2: Scrapbook Paper Painting

If you guys can believe it, Bean is actually sleeping on her own right now! In my bed, but on HER OWN none the less! Apparently I've "over mothered" her a bit so, sleeping by herself has been quite the issue for her, so this is good! Third time this week this has happened. So nice! She's given me time for me! On top of finishing ANOTHER craft, I cleaned out her closet, cleaned the kitchen, etc. Feels soooo gooooood. Anyways, here is another project!

Again, I got this idea from My Pinterest account and put my own little twist on it.

SCRAPBOOK PAPER PAINTING

SUPPLIES NEEDED
- Canvas
- Black Acrylic Paint
- Several different pieces of scrapbook paper
- Modge Podge
-Paint Brushes
-Scissors
-Elmer's Glue
- Clear Acrylic Coating

I got the canvas for Christmas. I picked it out so I know where my Mother got them from. Michael's Arts & Crafts, of course. It was buy 1, get one free. They usually always have canvas on sale there. Their cheap but get the job done! I also got this set of brushes from Michael's. As you can see, most of them aren't used. I have 3847589347 brushes  and prefer to use those over the ones you see here as they're better quality. I got this set for $7. I pulled them out to use for the modge podge part of this project.

First things first, paint your canvas black! You can totally choose a different color if you'd like; but I would suggest black cause it makes the scrapbook paper colors pop. Make sure you do at least 2 coats of color so you don't see the canvas! In the picture, it was my first coat of paint.
When I did my first coat, I actually some how had convinced my husband to watch Bean for 15-20 minutes. After waiting for it to dry, I had Bean again so didn't get to work on it for the rest of the night. Lucky for me, Bean decided to nap on her own the next day so I finished it while she napped. Took about 30 minutes.

While your waiting for the paint to dry, this is a good time to cut out shapes out of scrapbook paper! I wanted to do a floral design like I saw on pinterest so I cut out petal shapes. I chose all the scrapbook paper designs I liked best.

Once the paint is dry, start laying out all your shapes the way you'd like it. I wanted mine to go "off" the canvas ( again, like I saw on Pinterest).

When you have them laid out like you want, go ahead and use just a dot of Elmer's glue to adhere them on so they don't move while your "modge podgeing" them. In my case, I did it not only for that reason but by now Bean had woken up and I knew just leaving paper out like that either the cats or Bean herself would find a way to ruin it.

Now Modge Podge away! I know it looks kind of scary at first, but don't worry, it drys clear!

TIP: If you don't have any Modge Podge, add water to some Elmer's Glue and BAM! You've got yourself some homemade Modge Podge.

Modge Podge Drying!

When it's dry, spray is with some clear acrylic coating. That will help it last longer.

Finished project! I Instagrammed it and made it all fancy looking. Couldn't help myself.
I still haven't found a home for it yet since my walls are all filled up at the moment. I'll find a place soon enough though. XD

Grumpy

Yesterday morning, I woke up to Bean kicking my back and making strange noises. I had a urge to check my Facebook as I do every morning. Something inside of me told me this isn't okay. So, I made a pact with myself to not get on Facebook for an entire week. Let me tell you, yesterday way a rough one. I had thoughts of " What if someone messaged me?!" All. Day. I seriously have a problem. Overall, I feel better already though. I found myself thinking negative every time I was on it. Besides real life problems yesterday, I was in a pretty good mood.

Frank had 3 friends over yesterday for a Call of Duty: Black Ops, Lan party. 12PM - Right now. Yes, I have a boy who I just met last night sleeping on my living room floor. The house is a mess. Smells like beer and paraphernalia  This isn't unusual. When we were younger, Frank had friends over all the time to play games till the sunrise and everything was good. Of course, now...we have Elizabeth. I used to play games right along with them. Now, Bean and I were pretty much shunned to my bedroom to watch T.V. and clean all day. It's getting really irritating knowing NOTHING for my husband's life has changed and everything in my life, has. I know they're husbands out there that help raise their children. Mine provides money and that's about it right now and I'm so tired of it. Probably wasn't a good day to get rid of Facebook as it kept me from being bored out of my mind for hours.

If anyone has any advice for me that would be great! I'm off to go pick up after 3 grown men and a 1 year old.
